The Creek Development is a culturally significant landscape project designed for Badgebup Aboriginal Corporation, located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. The project aims to transform the existing creek corridor into a meaningful community destination that celebrates Noongar culture, strengthens connections to Country, and supports environmental restoration.

Developed in collaboration with Badgebup Aboriginal Corporation, the design responds to the cultural and ecological significance of the site, integrating traditional knowledge, storytelling, and sustainable landscape principles. The creek forms the central element of the masterplan, guiding a continuous pedestrian pathway that connects a series of gathering, reflection, and remembrance spaces throughout the landscape.

At the heart of the site is a communal gathering area, featuring an organic roof form inspired by the movement of water. Designed around an existing tree, the space incorporates a fire pit, BBQ facilities, seating, and social areas, creating a welcoming environment for cultural activities, storytelling, and community gatherings.

Dedicated women's and men's reflection spaces provide opportunities for cultural connection and quiet contemplation. The women's space draws inspiration from the Milky Way, with a fluid circular form symbolising continuity and connection. The men's space is inspired by the traditional Noongar mia-mia shelter, reflecting strength, protection, and a connection to Country.

A network of approximately one kilometre of pedestrian pathways connects the different areas, incorporating remembrance spaces for memorial planting, reflection, and ceremony. The landscape strategy also includes native and riparian planting, creek bank stabilisation, and ecological rehabilitation to enhance biodiversity and protect the natural environment.

Through a thoughtful balance of cultural expression, environmental responsibility, and contemporary landscape design, the Badgebup Creek Development seeks to create a lasting place of connection, learning, and belonging for the local Noongar community and future generations.
